How it's calculated

Each future period start date is projected by adding your average cycle length repeatedly from your last period. Ovulation and the fertile window for each projected cycle are then estimated the same way as the Ovulation Calculator — 14 days before that cycle's period start.

How prediction accuracy changes over time

Cycles aheadTypical accuracy
Next cycleMost accurate — closest to your actual recent pattern
2–3 cycles aheadReasonable if your cycles are usually regular
4+ cycles aheadIncreasingly approximate — natural cycle variation compounds

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance can this calculator predict my period?

It projects your next 6 cycles, but accuracy decreases the further ahead you look, since natural cycle-to-cycle variation compounds over multiple projected cycles.

What if my cycle length varies from month to month?

Use your typical or average cycle length — the further your actual cycles vary from that average, the less accurate the further-out predictions will be. Tracking your real cycle lengths over time improves this.

Does this calculator account for irregular periods?

No — it assumes a consistent cycle length throughout. If your periods are genuinely irregular, date-based prediction is inherently less reliable, and a period-tracking app that learns your actual pattern, or a clinical evaluation, may serve you better.

Can I use the fertile window shown here for family planning?

It's a reasonable general estimate for planning purposes, but for precise conception timing or contraception, dedicated fertility tracking methods (ovulation predictor kits, basal body temperature) are more accurate than calendar prediction alone.
